Ron went fly fishing with a friend, Steve McLaren this weekend. They left Wed. and took the ferry to another island. They camped and fished and returned home on Sunday. This was Ron's first fly fishing experience. He said it's a lot of work, but tons of fun.

I believe Ron said that Steve landed (fly fishing terms: brought the fish to shore) 22 steel heads. Ron hooked one, but it got away before he landed it. Ron said Steve is a PRO.

They fished in several different lakes and streams.

They saw a black bear with 2 cubs. The picture is blurry, but you can still see the 2 cubs and mama bear. The bears were on the other side of the river.

Holy crap! That fish is HUGE!
The bears want their fish back...
How fun. My english teacher (my junior year) was big into fly fishing. He even wrote a book on how to fly fish.
Looks like Ron had alot of fun! That is one thing that is really fun about living here in Alaska! When the fish are running everyone is talking about it. Running = another Alaksan term for lots of fish in the river swimming upstream. There is a lot of terms that people use when it comes to fishing! Just like it's not a fishing pole it's a rod. I've had to relearn that one too.
You can't do that in Vegas.
