Friends Forever

Friendships are built that will last forever. L to R Siosi Tupou, Jayley, Gabi Fenumiai. Siosi plays for Thunder Mountain and Gabi plays for Juneau Douglas. These girls have had so much fun together over the past few years. Gabi's a senior. Jayley's a junior and Siosi is a sophomore. Not only have they played ball against each other, but they have gone to girls camp together since they were beehives. The three are a hoot together. We are going to miss Gabi next year:( but we won't miss her on the court!!!

Southeast Regional Tournament

This years region tournament was held in Sitka. Ron and I went for the week. It was so much fun. The Southeast tournament is like no other. Every school (10 schools) fly in by Alaska Airlines and some come via the state ferry. There is no town in southeast Alaska that can drive to the next town. You either fly or ferry. Anyway, all 10 schools come with their cheerleaders, drill team, pep band, pep club, and basketball teams. Everyone is there for the entire week. We get to watch a lot of great basketball, great rivalries, and some great performances by all the drill teams. It is truly unique and very fun! Jayley's team did worse than expected, but she had a great tournament. She scored 24 points in the first game and 34 in the third game. The second game was just a weird/twilight zone game. Jayley had three fouls in the first five minutes of the first quarter. So she didn't play the last 3 minutes of the first and all of the second. Then she got her 4th foul late in the third quarter. Just a bizarre game. She is literally NEVER in foul trouble. She usually ends games with 1-2 fouls. Needless to say her team can't play without her. She had seven points in those first five minutes. They only scored four points without her in 1 1/2 quarters. It was a really sad game and it was against their biggest rival:( but regardless it was an awesome week. The weather was amazing too. We had sunshine most of the day.

Schoenbar Wrestling

Brent did middle school wrestling this year. He has never wrestled before and he only wrestled part of the season cause it overlapped with KDL basketball. Anyway, he did great!! He took fourth in the region tournament. The wrestling coach told me he wished he wasn't a basketball player because he was a natural wrestler. He said Brent had the three things a wrestle needs:
1) upper body strength
2) quickness
3) smart on the mat

And the best part was Uncle Kris watching him wrestle via FaceTime!!

Happy 14th Birthday Brent

We have nicknamed this birthday the fire birthday. If it could go wrong. It did. I made a cake in the early afternoon. About 30 minutes later I realized that I was out of butter. I went downstairs to the freezer and pulled some out then came upstairs and opened the oven. It was almost all the way cooled down but still a little warmer than room temperature so I set a cube of butter and a cube of cream cheese in the oven so that they would be softened a couple of hours later when I needed to make the frosting. Well, a couple of hours later I took Brent to the store to buy some pizza. While we were gone I called Jake and asked him to turn the oven on so when we got home we could cook the pizzas. When we got home I dropped off Brent and his friend Steven. They came inside with the pizzas. I went and picked Ron up from work. Before I got home the kids called me and told me there was a fire in the oven. They used the fire extinguisher to put it out. That's when I remembered the butter and cream cheese in the oven. So Ron took the kids to the church to play basketball and cook the pizzas down there. Well, there was a sewer back up at the other end of the church that distracted Ron. He was attending to emergency cleanup with a few other guys and forgot about the pizzas so they burnt. Next, I'm making the icing for his cake and Jaden is playing with the cake. She tilts the cake pan and the whole thing falls out onto the floor. We salvaged it. I just kinda put it back in the pan best as I could. I couldn't ice it normal so I just squirted icing all over. Then when we were lighting the candles Jaden was helping me and her hair caught on fire! Brent's friends then started saying that this was the fire birthday. Luckily, they all still had fun!

Another Teenage Driver

We have another! I hate the first few months. It scares me to death to let a 14 year old get behind the wheel. So slow, short destinations at first.

KDL Champions

Brent and Jake were KDL champions with an undefeated season!!

Creative Jayley & Tangled

Jayley is one of the most creative people I know. She went to Walmart and spent less than $10. With what she bought and Walmart and items from around the house she created Tangled costumes in about 30 minutes.

Day at The Day Spa

A day at the The Day Spa spoiling my girls. Jayley had layers put into her hair and she also had it darkened. That was the first time she's had any color or anything done to hair. I liked it. She had it darkened again since then and the second time was a permanent color instead of semi. I'm going to sound like my Mom, but I really like her natural color and really miss it. She does too a little. I didn't get an after picture because we had to rush out to get Jayley to the airport in time to meet her team because she had volleyball games in Juneau. Anyway, Jaden got a few foils of blonde highlights put in her hair. She loves the blonde and so do I.

Dive Boat

Jaden and I got to spend the morning on a commercial dive boat. The Alaska State Ferry was running a drill and the divers were there to retrieve the capsule that sinks to the bottom. Our friends own the dive company so they invited me and Jaden to come watch. It was really cool. The diver brought a sea cucumber up for Jaden to play with. She had a blast with that little friend until he died. Haha! But it lasted for about 6 hours or more.
Date: probably Septemberish. It was still summer, but school had started.

New Blogger App

I just heard about this new blogger app. I'm going to give it a try. It seems like a fantastic idea. Since, I don't blog anymore because I no longer EVER use a camera. I use my phone pretty much exclusively. Which is why my pictures never make it to the computer and then to my blog. So I'm going to just start going through my pictures on my phone and posting them. Happy day!! Thanks Becky for sharing this app with me.
This first picture I took because we were walking into McDonalds and I noticed that Sam had his tape measure. He used his own money to buy a tape measure and then for a while there he took it everywhere. It was really cute. He was into measuring everything.
